Rafael
Rafael is an absolutely stunning little boy with a wonderful personality. If it weren’t for his current orthopedic concerns, I would have kept him as part of my own breeding program.
He is energetic, optimistic, playful, and affectionate. He loves wrestling with his littermates, running after toys, and exploring everything around him. Even though his hind legs don’t always cooperate the way they should, Rafael doesn’t let that stop him. He runs, climbs onto high places, and enjoys life with incredible determination and enthusiasm.
Rafael is currently being evaluated for a condition affecting his hind legs. At this time, we do not have a definitive diagnosis. One veterinarian believes he may simply have weak muscles, while another veterinarian, who also breeds Devon Rex cats, suspects congenital patellar luxation. Since adding vitamins and fish oil to his diet, I have noticed that he is moving better, which gives me hope. Whether this improvement is due to the supplements or simply because he is getting stronger as he grows, I honestly don’t know yet.
I’m planning a thorough orthopedic evaluation to determine exactly what is causing his mobility issues. I’m also hoping to obtain pet insurance beforehand, as Rafael’s initial veterinary visits took place before he had a microchip and before he was identified by name.
If someone is willing to take on any future veterinary care that Rafael may need, I would be happy to place him in a loving home for a symbolic adoption fee. My greatest priority is finding a family that will love him and give him the care he deserves.
At the moment, I am receiving many inquiries about Rafael. However, I have come to realize that while almost everyone is willing to care for him, very few people are prepared to pursue treatment for his condition.
I believe Rafael may have a chance to live a normal, full life. He is an incredibly affectionate, happy, and loving little boy who truly enjoys life, and I would very much like to give him that chance.

Otherwise, I am planning to take him to an orthopedic specialist again to try to determine exactly what is causing the problem with his hind legs and what can be done for him.
If his condition can be treated at a reasonable cost, I will have him treated myself. In that case, his price will change accordingly.
Alternatively, I am willing to place Rafael for $100 with someone who is genuinely prepared to take responsibility for the necessary treatment.
If it turns out that his condition cannot reasonably be treated, he will be placed as he is for the price currently listed on his page.

- PureVax Feline 4 RCC vaccination (feline viral rhinotracheitis, calicivirus, panleukopenia, and Chlamydia psittaci)
- Prevention of parasitic infections
- Rabies vaccination if traveling by airplane (otherwise I prefer it to be given later by your veterinarian)
- Both parents have been DNA tested and are clear of all tested genetic diseases
- Microchip with temperature-sensing function

I have found a family for him — a family that is willing to try to help him and find out whether his condition can be treated.
That was the most important thing to me. I still have hope that Rafael may have a chance to live a normal, full life.
Of course, I understand that there are medical conditions that can require astronomical amounts of money or extraordinary effort to treat, and I could never expect or demand that from anyone. But what mattered to me was finding someone willing to at least try.
I truly hope that sometime in the future I will be able to come back here and post a photo or video of Rafael walking normally. That would make me incredibly happy.
