Why do kittens cost so much?

Why do kittens cost so much? Are there cheaper kittens available? Yes, there are. But most advertisements for cheap kittens are scams. They steal photos and videos of kittens and pass them off as their own. How to avoid being scammed? Demand a video call, a real breeder can show you the kitten, its parents, and the conditions in which the kitten is raised. The second group of breeders have very poor conditions for cats. The cats are sick and not treated, fed poor quality food, and not given rest. They are either pregnant or nursing. Kittens and cats can be kept in cages for a long time or in rooms where there is nothing for their leisure and development. This can lead to psychological problems in cats and kittens. In such cases, the animals often do not meet the standards of Devon Rex cats. This means that kittens may have bad temperaments, genetic diseases that are not immediately visible. There are often issues with the fur: straight fur, small ears or eyes, large patches of skin without fur. You may not notice these immediately — the fur of kittens may fall out within a year (temporary baldness is more of a norm for the Devon Rex breed), but the fur of my kittens grows back because I adhere to the breed standards, while kittens from bad breeders may remain bald. The third group — good breeders. But they have a two-year waiting list. I don’t like waiting lists. I try to have not too many candidates for one kitten. And it’s so hard to choose. And I know that if someone paid a lot for a kitten, they will take care of it. The upkeep of excellent breeding cats is expensive. The cats themselves, if they are very good cats, are expensive. I give all the necessary vaccinations to the cats, feed them very good food, and am constantly in contact with a vet. This is all expensive. I take my cats to shows for experts to evaluate them. Most of my cats are champions (some could have been super champions, but I spared my time and the nerves of the cats — I would have to go to a few more shows), this means that their kittens will be beautiful and meet the breed standards. I conduct genetic tests on the cats for hereditary diseases — my cats do not have them, you can see them — DNA tests on cat breeders are publicly available on the website. This is a young breed, so kittens are very susceptible to contagious diseases in childhood. This is all fixed with vaccinations, and by the time you get a kitten, the chances of it getting sick are minimal. And if it does get sick, the illness will be mild. But while it is growing up to two months, I observe a lot of restrictions to prevent accidentally introducing a disease. A virus can be brought in on hands, feet, or clothing. We create a very enriching environment for the cats. You can see photos and videos — there are rooms that we have transformed exclusively for kittens. The entire room consists of various cat equipment, toys, castles, etc. Each one is monitored by video surveillance. Most of my cats and kittens love to run in the wheel, they know how to play with a huge amount of toys. The kittens spend a lot of time in our arms, we socialize them. I give you the kitten after a visit to the vet, who provides a report on its condition and inserts a microchip.
